Solange Grinberg

Head Office, Antarctic Logistics & Expedition Operations

Born in Ushuaia, Argentina, to French parents, Solange Grinberg grew up immersed in the maritime world of the Southern Ocean. Much of her childhood was spent living aboard a sailing vessel, navigating the remote waters of the Chilean fjords, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica. This unconventional upbringing fostered both a deep familiarity with the polar environment and a lifelong connection to Antarctica.Today, Solange serves as the operational backbone of the expedition office, working closely alongside expedition leader Darrel Day as his principal logistics coordinator and operational partner. From behind the scenes, she oversees the complex operational framework required for private Antarctic expeditions and high-end voyages. Her responsibilities include the coordination of Antarctic permits, regulatory compliance, expedition logistics, and guest liaison, ensuring seamless operations from the earliest planning stages through to arrival in Antarctica. Solange frequently manages the intricate logistics surrounding guest transfers, including coordination with aircraft operations to King George Island, as well as the many moving pieces required to support remote polar travel. With exceptional attention to detail and a strong operational mindset, she plays a key role in transforming complex expedition planning into smooth and well-executed journeys for both guests and expedition teams.Solange holds a background in biology and maintains a particular passion for ornithology. An avid birdwatcher—often jokingly referring to herself as a ‘bird nerd’—she developed a strong academic interest in avian life during her university studies, frequently connecting coursework and research projects to her fascination with birds. Her lifelong exposure to the sub-Antarctic and Antarctic regions has given her a natural familiarity with the seabirds and wildlife of the Southern Ocean, knowledge she enjoys sharing with guests whenever the opportunity arises.During expeditions, Solange supports operations both behind the scenes and on board, assisting with logistical coordination, guest liaison, and wildlife interpretation, particularly relating to the remarkable birdlife of Antarctica and the surrounding islands. For Solange, Antarctica is far more than a destination—it is a landscape woven into her life story. After all, life is simply what happens between each Antarctic trip.
